Easy Chunky Crochet Easter Basket

A quick and easy Easter make for crochet beginners

The kids are finally back at school after a long, difficult stint of home schooling. Horay! Now, probably the last thing from your mind right now is the prospect of yet another at-home activity to try to keep the children entertained! But how about a DIY Easter egg hunt in the garden? And chocolate isn’t just for kids of course :).

Also this one is a bit of fun for you too as it involves a super easy and quick, no stress, relaxing, evening crocheting session with a cuppa tea, or something stronger to calm the nerves of the last few months!

Calm, Create and Crochet Chunky

With our chunky yarns, you can whip up a basket in an evening, no fussy little projects with tiny stitches that take an age to complete. This is honestly so quick and easy that I even managed to do it after only a couple of days learning to crochet! (Woolly’s marketing assistant and complete crochet novice Laura speaking here)

We Love Multifunction!

Plus after Easter, the basket can be used for a variety of play-time scenarios; my 3 year old has claimed it as a shopping basket for shop keeper/customer role playing and absolutely loves it. And if you manage to prise your make away from your children, it makes a really sweet plant pot cover for a houseplant – perfect!

So below is the pattern. I’ve used our 5mm Macramé and Crochet Cord in bright green (lots of colours available to choose) as the cord keeps its structure quite well and a 12mm hook.

I hope you enjoy it. It is the first thing I’ve ever made using crochet techniques and the first pattern I’ve written and adapted for use with our chunky yarns. Feel free to leave a comment with any advice too :).

And don’t forget to share your chunky makes with us on Instagram. We love seeing and sharing them @woollymahoosive
