Product Information
What this kit is
This is a design-your-own chunky knit cardigan kit.
Instead of following rigid stitch counts, you’ll work to measurements and shape the cardigan as you go. That makes this project far more forgiving, and much more satisfying, than traditional knitting.
You’ll be floor knitting, which keeps your arms free and gives you full control over the scale and drape of the fabric.
No needles.
What you’ll make
A relaxed, oversized, super chunky knit cardigan with a modern, sculptural feel.
You decide:
-
How wide and boxy it is
-
How long it sits on the body
-
. You choose your own three colours from our Mammoth yarn range.
The finished look depends on your choices, which is exactly the point.
What’s included
-
3 × 1 kg balls of Mammoth super chunky yarn (your colour choice)
-
Step-by-step design and making instructions
-
Yarn planning guidance so you don’t run out halfway through
-
Assembly guidance for a wearable, well-balanced fit
You’ll need:
-
Scissors
-
A measuring tape
-
Floor space
That’s it.
Yarn & sizing information
This kit includes enough yarn for one oversized cardigan.
Approximate yarn usage:
-
Back panel: ~750 g
-
Two front panels combined: ~750 g
-
Sleeves: ~400 g each
Everyone’s stitch tension is slightly different, so these are guides rather than exact figures.
Recommended back panel width:
-
UK sizes 8–12: around 60 cm
-
Maximum recommended size: 80 cm wide × 55 cm long
Going wider than this will result in a much heavier, more sculptural garment.
Skill level
Beginner-friendly.
If you can make loops and count roughly, you can make this cardigan. The instructions focus on measurements rather than stitch counts, which makes the process far less intimidating.
How long does it take?
Most people complete this project over one or two relaxed sessions, depending on size and pace.
Why this kit is different
This kit gives you:
-
Freedom to design
-
Enough yarn to experiment
-
Clear guidance without micromanaging
You’re making something personal, not just following instructions.
