Introducing, Our New Ultimate Wet and needle felting kit.

We at Woolly Mahoosive HQ, are thrilled to introduce our latest product – Our New Ultimate Wet and Needle Felting Kit.

After extensive research and development, we have created a kit that not only provides great value for money, but also includes everything you need to start your journey in this ancient craft.

The kit includes enough supplies to create multiple items and boasts a large amount of felting yarn – double or more the amount provided in other kits with much higher prices. It also includes a pack of embellishments, and a pack of mammoth yarn for needle felting so you can let your creativity run wild,

With this kit you will be able to make wet felted bowls in whichever sizes you choose, and have a good go at needle felting.

Below, are some pictures showing the weights of various items, that we wet felted, during our research. Not all are finished or shaped, but we thought this was a good exercise to show what you can do with 250 grams of Merino.

We suggest you start with a small item first, to understand the mechanics involved in wet felting.

The scales measure 22 cm x 22 cm.

wet felted bowl

This one was made on a balloon, then shaped around a vessel whilst damp. It was then massaged into shape with hands, and any seams, were rubbed to smooth them out, before being finally shaped, and left overnight, slightly damp to completely dry.

Wet felted bowl

This bowl was made over a balloon, and then shaped whilst damp around a vase before it was completely dry, any seams were rubbed to reduce them, and the odd bump was gently needle felted. It was then shaped again over night, to completely dry.

wet felted pod bowl

This bowl was made over a balloon. The balloon was covered completely and a hole was cut in the top. A fresh balloon was then inflated inside the balloon to shape it from damp.

Chunky felted bowl

This bowl was made with chunky pieces of Merino. This makes the bowl heavy and means that you need to agitate, or wet felt the merino for it to felt enough for it to hold together.

Our New Ultimate Wet and Needle Felting Kit also includes needle felting tools, and some shapes to get you started.

The kit also includes, a resist, that you will need to cut into shape. With the resist you can make pod bowls. These are bowls with a smaller hole in the top, rather than a wide open bowl. You can find examples of pod bowls below.

These are quite small about 15 cm wide at the base, and use 50 grams of Merino.

Included in this kit are needle felting tools, and some shapes to get you started. You could also needle felt embellishments on to the wet felted items.

Our New Ultimate Wet and Needle Felting Kit, has everything you need to get started with this craft. It’s a great summer craft, as it can be done outside.

The only thing you need to add is a washing up bowl, a tea towel, and some hot water.

The kit allows you to use your creativity and style, to choose a variety of bowl shapes, and sizes and to have a go at needle felting too.  Which is a great stress buster.

NB – Shrinkage within the wet felting process, is totally normal. You can expect a finished piece to be anywhere between 25% and 50%, smaller than at the start of the process.

To create a bowl:

We advise using your sink draining board and a bowl with a quarter full of hand hot water.

Inflate the balloon to its natural size.  Do not overinflate.

Suitable for adults only.
